As said maybe drop to a 110 or 100 and see how it feels, i dropped 10 mm off mine as my neck hurt and i was able to also lower the bar 2 spacers and still felt a lot more comfy .
Out of interest is your saddle height right ? hard to tell from the piccie as your legs are together but it should be heel on pedel with leg straight to give right seat height when the foot is on the pedal .

This is a way they used to guess year's ago, with your elbow on the tip of the saddle how far are your fingers tips from the bars? They used to say they should just touch.

Funny enough after different bike fits that works on mine, but that could be down to my shape.

This something that works for me, but it doesn't work for everyone.

Am I missing something her? He's offered you a stem to try out.
Yeah I know, but while the stems are in the post we've both got no bikes to ride, then if I don't like it I've got to post it back again! For £15 for a new stem or so we are nearly there with postage costs, so like I said very nice to offer but I'd rather buy a cheap one and have a choice of two

As I said, years ago and you like me are extremely old, which is why it may work. The younger generation brought up with central heating may be a different shape.^_^

Cheeky! I ain't ready for the care home or the nurse with the pills before bedtime yet, I suspect its the long and lanky ones that this doesn't work for, us shortarses are the ones it does.

When I bought my first road bike about three years ago, I found the riding position very uncomfortable. I swapped the multi angle ( minus16 degrees to plus 16 degrees) 110mm stem to a 90mm, 8 degree one. I found the 90mm stem much more comfortable. Since then, I've gradually got used to the longer lengths and lower angles. I'm back on 110mm, minus 16 degrees now and I prefer it to all the set-ups that I previously liked.
The only thing that matters is to feel comfortable.

I spent a few days doing 30 minutes stretching each day, then I did not need the new stem that I thought I did before.

Touch them toes, stretch those ham strings, get them hip flexors moving, whilst your at it stretch that lower middle and upper back.

Personally, it lacks appeal.

I do those stretches, have done for a couple of years to help a touch of lower back pain at work, the bike isn't so bad, and I guess if it was I would be in agony having just done a 60 miler! I'm not in agony, well, I am "spent" but my back is good and my neck and across the shoulders is good just my legs and crotch area a bit tender!
Just out of interest do most new bikes come with a 120mm stem or a different length?
