Hill Wimp
Fair weathered, fair minded but easily persuaded.
I would prefer a Whitstable start purely as it makes getting home easier for myself Fabbers and Hopless unless someone has a deep desire to change it.

I've just seen the forecast. It's looking a bit crosswindy, like 18mph NE.Whitstable start sounds good to me. I'd rather experience that mythical tailwind than slog into a headwind!
FWIW I have done this ride on fixed before, the only real bit of climbing is just before North Foreland - or just after - depending on which direction you're going. I'd be happier climbing that on fixed than on my 2sp Brompton.I'll be getting the 0927 from St Pancreas, getting me to Wit Stubble at 1038.
Now, would the Brompton be a very silly idea? How about the SingleSpeed of Purpleness?

I'm going to be damned slow whatever, so it almost makes no differenceI've just seen the forecast. It's looking a bit crosswindy, like 18mph NE.
The latter part of the ride should be OK, but I'm not looking forward to the mile or so just after Margate. The bit going NE.
Would you like to keep me company at the back?Me too. There's a toned, sylph-like body here, but it's buried under a few stones of blubber.

I'll be on the same train as you.
lf dry I'm leaning towards the 1982 Holdsworth on account of better overall aerodynamics into a headwind :-/I'll be getting that train as well. Still toying with big wheels or little wheels.

Anybody considering the bus?You might want poorer aerodynamics, in order to provide a better shield.
