Transport and pleasure. The fitness is a benefit, but not why I do it.
Is that not about being green, well it was when I stood for local council for the green party, mind you things seem to be taken more seriously these days than 20+ years ago.Why can't I be cycling for fitness but not as sport, and sustainability but not green? So there's your first "other" vote.
I wouldn't do that (mainly the cakes... good curries and beers OK in moderation and you can have a bigger portion than an inactive person). Cycling isn't a free pass for an unbalanced diet. You can look slim but still get any of the big killers and a bad diet can contribute to it.If "fitness" is the ability to stuff my face with cakes, curry, and beer without worrying about whether I'll still fit into my trousers or not, then "fitness".
It makes me want to take up kayaking too
Just keep riding, if this quarter is anything like last years Qrt4, it rained every other day I was out.
I started for health reasons my avatar pic was taken on my first ride 10 days ago I always thought I was fit but blood work doesn't lie and keeping a cadence of 80+ was a reality check
