I'm a very recent convert to cycling and quite surprised how pleasurable it can be.
I see it as a viable mode of transport which may save a bit of petrol and maybe keep me a little fitter for longer.

I'm generally in it for recreation and keeping fit really. Might move into using it for some commuting but style if job and needing to pick up our son occasionally it won't be very often.

I race because it's run and that as a side effect keeps me fit.

At 45 I have about another 20 years of mtb racing before I have to jack it in. We still include a +60 age group in Cat 1 for our local mtb races.

Everything except sport/competition & other, only because as of yet I don't have the required fitness to compete!

Struggling to think what would come under other? I guess work (bicycle courier) & maybe touring but that could come under recreation, hmm.

I'm mostly a transport cyclist, though occasionally ride for leisure on family days out and even more occasionally have a little tour by bike.
