Hi all

I need to replace a spoke on the non drive side on my rear wheel, im at work and was going to order the bits and fiddle with it myself however the bike and my tape measure are at home! ive tried googleland but cant find it anyone have a set to hand they can measure for me? (standard wheels on the allez i think)

also to replace this spoke will i need to take the cassette off? it snapped at the nipple with some of the spoke still in it so know i need a new nipple anyway

nobody can tell you what spoke length you need for that rim without also knowing what hubs you have and what the lacing pattern is.....

And the ERD of the rim.... S480 doesnt come up on any of the spoke calculator databases, it's always best to measure anyway.

OTH you might be better just getting a whole new wheel if my experience (recounted elsewhere on these pages) is anything to go by.

i was debating a new wheel set, cant justify it yet, will depend on how much birthday money i get
i know its 3 laced but thats about it! when i measure is it just from hub to rim, or to nipple and do i include the bend at the hub in the length?

Complete guide to measuring hubs & rims is here.
You can then plug the numbers into the left hand panel on this page to get the spoke lengths.

Or if you are prepared to take another spoke out of the same side of the wheel, you can measure with a steel rule up against the "inside" of the bend, down to the other end of the spoke (i.e. including the threaded bit). I'm not sure if that is strictly accurate, but it's always been good enough for me.
