Thanks for all the suggestions and helpful replies everyone. If I do decide to leave it on which I think I will ... Why has it come a bit loose and a tad rattly and how can I tighten it up if at all?? Used to check it when I cleaned chain/ cassette and it was nice and rigid before.

The disc on my push bike is located by moulded clips which grip the flange of the hub.

Yours may be similar, if one of those clips has snapped there's not a lot you can do.

Best to take it off altogether rather than leave it loose.

In a battle with the spokes, the disc would probably lose, but you might be unlucky and if it comes loose while you are riding it may break something else.

As you've gathered, a lot of cyclists don't like the discs.

If I wanted a new one, I would ask my local bike shop because they will have a few knocking around which they've removed at the request of the customers.
