The plastic spoke guard ( I think that's what it's called) on the back wheel adjacent to the cassette has come a bit loose and started to rattle slightly. Can you do anything to tighten it back up/ make it rigid again?
Cheers for any help/ advice offered.

I would only consider using one if I fitted my refurbished Cyclone RD - it was damaged in an off a long time ago, and now lacks an inner limiting screw, as seen here.

I bin mine when i change the cassette , its only useful if your bikes badly set up , mind you on kids bikes given how they just chuck em about its a good idea .

I will go against the general consensus and say keep it. They are a cheap and light insurance policy (and yes, I am good at setting up gears thank you very much!) that prevents the chain from sawing through the driveside spokes should the worst happen. The chain can visit that place for a multitude of reasons other than poor gear set-up, such as rear hanger damage, mechanical failure or something as silly as a twig or carrier bag getting caught in the cassette.
I leave them on my bikes where fitted and they don't have to be huge. They are not primarily to stop the rear mech visiting the spokes but as I said, to keep the chain off the spokes. :okay:
