I was in two minds whether to confess that I intended to ignore Crackle's advice

I too should confess I'd taken your silence as angst and was mindfully suspicious that you'd found some workaround which involved the bartering of beer or some such. All's fair in spokes and nipples though, especially for a happy outcome and a ride that doesn't see your rear rise and fall by a cm for every wheel rotation. Not that I'd know anything about uneven wheel builds.
