I've been looking at the Specialized Roubaix & Diverge.
Frames are similar but Diverge is slightly more 'relaxed' and takes wider tyres etc.
I can get a Roubaix in carbon with 105 for £1400 or with discs £1600.
The diverge in carbon is £2500.
I asked (in the concept shop)......"why is it soooo expensive". The answer was "I have no idea".
I assume there is some reason but I cannot see it.

No idea either? Have you tried the Bike Factory in Chester, had some 2015 Roubaix on sale a few weeks back, and even some 2016's had a discount... https://thebikefactory.co.uk/product/85380/roubaix-sl4-comp-disc-2015/

Yep, that's the one, I am after a 58-60 so will pop in this week. Have you tried out anything yet? There is a few I like look of similar to Roubaix, Defy, synapse etc. I flogged a really nice carbon ultegra synapse and wish I hadn't!

New model, need to recoup R&ad and for Soecialized most importantly branding, marketing and sponsorship costs

Assuming all the parts are identical? Ie brakes, wheel sets etc?

Isn't the Diverge really ugly too, pay a premium for that?

The issue with specialized from conversations I've had is very strict price control. Deals on older models if lucky or if they have a promotion on

Another reason to avoid the brand. As well as being really really common and to me ugly and/or dull to look at (even if the frames are meant to be super duper)

the Roubaix ain't the best looking either IMO, it looks weirdly 'squashed', mind you the Bike factory has them parked next to Pinarellos!

In between here and there
They even have to have bendy Tandem top tubes!!

My first road bike was a Roubaix, and I hate the bendy top tubes, that was the main appeal of a Supersix!

Specialzed keep tight controls on pricing - Diverge is a different market segment for them with less competition at the moment so up the price I reckon!

I am "thinking" os selling my Defy carbon in order to get something more comfy......but only if its noticeably more comfy.
They loaned me a 52 Roubaix for a week which I used yesterday......a nice ride but possibly a tad big for me (reachwise). They are also loaning me a 49 next week.
