can anyone tell me where I can find a one-piece crank with three cog chain set? My 15 year old son needed a cheap sturdy bike to cycle/camp and lovingly fixed up one from the tip which did a great job around Normandy this summer. Neither of us realised until the pedal snapped off (duh!) that its large sized crank case and one-piece cast crank are now obsolete other than for BMX which of course don't have triple chain sets. Any help to avoid replacing the whole frame gratefully accepted!

Let me know if you do find a solution as my trike has a one-piece crank and single chainring but I'd love to fit a double or triple on to get lower gearing. (had to fit an electric front wheel so I can get up anything more than a moderate slope)

Looking at the pictures. Are the three rings bolted on? Or is that just the chain guard?
Could you find another cheap/scrap bike & bolt the required rings on?

This very nicely made bushing set allows you to mount a modern threaded cartridge bottom bracket unit in a frame made for the old-style "Ashtabula" one-piece cranks. This saves weight, improves shifting, and allows the use of modern clipless pedals. Be the first kid on your block to put a Dura-Ace crankset into your Schwinn Varsity!

Installation Note: Press in right side (left threaded) bushing first. Then draw in left side bushing by gradually tightening the allen head bolts. The bolts go through the left side and screw into the right side adaptor.

Not got time to find a UK supplier, but would a conversion kit be easier?
