How about Can We Fix It - Neil Morrissey, Inspired by Bob the Builder, is that more straightforward
I think you’ll find that Bob the Builder was a TV series first and the song was directly inspired by that, rather than the spin-off book….

Has anyone mentioned Wuthering Heights yet?:biggrin:

But...that still means overall the book will have influenced that song.
And London Fields (the place) is referenced in "London Fields".

I will still cling to London Fields the park because it is where I used to live. In a house nearby, not actually in the park.

Which book was this inspired by? There's a book titled This Charming Man writen by Marian Keyes, but it seems to be a chick book. Also it was published in 2008.

From Wikipedia article:

As with many of Morrissey's compositions, the song's lyrics features dialog borrowed from a cult film. The line "A jumped-up pantry boy who never knew his place" is borrowed from the 1972 film adaptation of Anthony Shaffer's 1970 homoerotic play Sleuth, in which Laurence Olivier plays a cuckolded author to Michael Caine's 'bit of rough'.[8][2]
