it doesn't look very promising does it. The wind at the moment will be challenging to say ther least. Like cycling towing a car

hi Nick,
just arranged to pick Iain up at 08:00 in the morning, if you think we should abort, I will check later as we are just off into Bath.

I went out earlier and decided against the bike because of the wind. It's nasty and very gusty. Then it rained hard so glad I hadn't ridden.

I can't work out if it's supposed to be stronger or weaker by tomorrow am. Gales overnight.

Not impressed.

edit - I've just looked at the BBC version of life and the weather and it says the rain will clear from 9 until 12 tomorrow. Not sure if it really has that resolution though...:biggrin:

IMPORTANT UPDATE

I think due to the weather being so changeable we will each need to make a decision Sunday morning about whether we ride or not

If you decide in the morning that you are not coming could you please give me a quick text message or call to my mobile 0771 6842 392 so I know not to expect you at the meet. It will save us waiting around in the car park.Don't forget to add your CC member ID name

What we could do is still meet up and depending on the weather go on a shorter ride of 20-25 miles or so How does that sound ?

Its windy but sunny out there at the moment so we may still get lucky

It is sunny here @ the moment  but it has been really changeable though, I was out with the dog earlier and it was lovely sunshine then it poured down

Bulletin from your start/ finish line correspondent

There's a man with a long white beard going round asking for wood to build his boat.

He's collecting up pairs of animals.

Yes - it's a deluge of biblical intensity here.

I turned on the digital tele rolling forecast and the first words were "severe weather warning", actually referring to the nearest bit of South Wales, but it's the same big blue splodge on the map. Condensing the rest - weather man thinks the heavy rain's going on until after 9 am
Yuk

I'll give an update in 1/2 hour

Hi David
its bucketing down here too and has been for the past hour or more. Its persisting .:wahhey:
If it had been showers I'd say go for it but frankly I can't see any pleasure in getting soaked and cold battling against a wind as well.

Sorry everyone but I am going to give the ride a miss .

I have no proper wet weather gear for bikes and usually just ride in the rain if I'm caught out but this is different .Its 40 miles in appaling weather.
I just hope that if anyone goes they enjoy their swim

If anyone is still going don't forget there is a printed route on the start of this thread . The return was pretty much the same route.

Good luck for anyone going... its not raining in Bristol yet, though according to http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ its about to start any time soon. Whereas the main deluge looks as though its already half way past Taunton.

Ah even as I type I see the first spots of rain outside.

I hope this is not the start of another great british summer!!
It would be miserable riding conditions, I hope to meet you all on the next one.
