To quote a ex mtb competitor form a web page.........

I would have said that any full suspension bike will suck the energy you are putting into the pedals so much that I would have only used them for down hill races. And use a hard tail for cross country races.

He does go onto to say new ones , ie top of the range or better these days but anything as cheap as your looking will handle like a brick with lead wheels.

All depends on what you want it for though, if yourhappy with the bike and the price its up to you .

try these maybe? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Specialized-R...ZViewItemQQptZUK_Bikes_GL?hash=item2303a517d4

Why should i avoid a bike with full suspension ?
Because the bike will be very heavy, the suspension will not work well, energy you put into pedalling will be used in compressing / decompressing the springs and, ultimately, unless you are doing big speeds downhill, you are unlikely to need it anyway.

The bike will wigh a ton and will sap your energy. The suspension won't work. You won't be able to adjust or maintain the bike. As advised above, phone round your local bike shops and ask what they've got second hand, that way you'll get something reasonably lightweight and good quality for an affordable price. I got a superb Peugeot road bike in almost new condition for £150.

if its casual riding weekends only and you dont want to spend a lot avoid dual sus like the plague you will feel as if youve ridden twenty miles on a road spec bike after after a couple of miles ,
hardtail or rigid bike and upgrade it yourself with a suspension seat post later if required
if possible get an alloy frame and avoid twist shift gears
simply put a rigid alloy quick fire shifters for same price would offer better value and comfort and allow you greater freedom imho .
