The solar PV (5KW, split) and home battery (12kWh usable), was recommissioned last year after 18 months of been discounted during building works.....The biggest impact on bills is the home battery been able to charge at night on cheap rates. Literally night and day difference to our electricty bill pre and post battery reactivation!!

I used Solar fast. Total cost a shade under £16k. 2 x 5.2kw batteries plus 14 of the uprated 480w panels. Certification came much quicker than anticipated but I am 7 weeks post installation and still no smart meter.
Despite that, the last months bill was £42 and now with the light values going up, that £42 will shrink even more but I would really like to capitalise on this decent weather.

Yes, it is frustrating when you are generating loads and can't yet get paid for the excess.

We were in a similar position in March 2022, which was another very sunny March, but we'd only had the system installed in Feb 2022.

How long did you have to wait?

There was quite a lot of faff in our case, because the grid provider changed, and they seemed to have lost our details, so lots of back and forth to get the MPAN sortted before we could start getting paid for exports, even though we already had a smart meter. It took a few months altogether.

Not helped by batteries being in short supply when we had our system installed, so it ended up being 6 months later before we had a battery, which meant anything not used immediately was just going to waste

2014 was also a very sunny March according to my solar records.

My system was installed at the end of December with the final invoice paid in full on 2nd January. It took the installer until mid March to get all the necessary paperwork and certificates together and emailed to me. I applied to Octopus to switch over to their Flux tariif on the 14th and it was activated on Monday. This was through the local council's Solar Together group buying scheme.
