You are reasonably well prepared for your first rides.

Don't buy too much now as you may get stuff you never use.

When you've been out a few times you will have a much better idea of the kit you need.

Thanks for all your reply's.

Shall check my existing pump I use for MTB although was looking at this on amazon, I believe I can mount this and a bottle holder to the bottle screws.... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Maxgear-All...UTF8&qid=1382521260&sr=8-3&keywords=bike+pump

Hi Pale Rider - im very prepared although never rode a road bike before so its just really a test run of 10 miles on Saturday morning to figure out the bike etc. I have always rode mountain bikes so just got to remember im on a road bike and no jumping on and off stuff on the bike lol.

Carnt wait to get out riding!

Thanks....

Went and got a base layer.... Water bottle n bottle holder. 750 lm bottle.

Spoke to a sales guy in decathlon where I got all my gear from including pump, the pump I got gas adaptor for road bikes. And comes with bracket to mount to the bottle holder part including bottle holder so happy days!

With regards to tyres etc my pump doesn't have a gauge but what pressure should I be keeping my tyres at? Can I buy a gauge like a car one to carry around ?

Pressure will be on the side of your tyres. For a 700x23 you're looking in the region of 100-120psi I would imagine. You can buy pressure gauges, yes.

Also, I also have the Triban 5, good choice ;)

Thanks so just like car tyres..... How you gettin on with the triban 5 mate?

So far no complaints. I've ridden probably a little over two thousand miles so far on it and apart from the odd puncture nothing has gone wrong on a ride. For the six month service they replaced the cassette, chainrings, cranks and bottom bracket free of charge (various reasons*, of which hopefully none affect you): great service.

I've ridden with people on significantly more expensive bikes, and it's good enough for me, for the most part, not to have noticed any difference (not to say that I'm not saving for n+1 :bicycle:).

*Weirdly the cassette came with two 13t sprockets, presumably a one off. BB had some play in, just one of those things.

You can get mounts which fit under the bottle holder and the clip to the side, so you can have two bottles and pump attached at those points if you wish. I wouldn't worry about that now though but you will need a pump.

Some padded bottoms would be good for you, but for first ride, just get out there with a rucksack (or school bag) to carry stuff, PET bottle holding juice, you don't have to get everything at once and you won't with £40.

Have fun! ;)

Where can i find one of the clips that hold a pump so i can have two water bottles
???

Cheers mate

Pumps come with them - my topeak race rocket did, you just attach it below the waterbottle

I have this one, it has a plastic bracket which goes over the bottle holes, then bottle holder over the top and screw in the screws

Hey there chris swift. Nice choice in bike. I've the same one. I bought mine as a commuter but it's getting used for much more these days. I even did a 50 mile sportive on it the other weekend and it performed flawlessly. I'll add a picture of mine, not the best pic but if you zoom in you'll see where my pump is. Its a topeak pocket rocket. You'll also notice a topeak saddle bag. It's usually got mudguards but not here for its picture taken.
Enjoy your new bike, keep asking questions, there's always someone who'll know the answer.
