Mother's Day, sad that.

Really sad, especially poignant on Mother's Day with 2 little kids. Never liked her particularly, but I admired her for finding a way to make a success of her life. And now loads of women in their 20s are now going for smear tests, so something good has come out of it.

Regadless of my (and other people's) opinions of how she conducted herself, it is very sad to lose a human life. RIP.

That's not very nice. Can we please not have this thread degenerate?

Unfortunately she was not universally admired as much as the media would have us believe, and some people will be a little 'bad timed' with their comments.

I wasn't a fan, as I am sure a quick search of posts will show, but today is not the time for that.

The anti Jade hysteria which usually overtakes threads like this on the internet normally happens on page 2, so we've surpassed oursleves here. I have a theory that the most vehement Jade haters are also those that read the papers and watch the shows where she features too much - over exposure you see.
I don't read papers and I don't watch the kind of TV that she features in, so therefore I never got to dislike or like her.
But a mother dying on Mother's day is very sad.

I can't believe how quickly it has all happened - just a few months. I'm not a Jade fan but she has to have had a positive effect if others lives are saved as a result of living with the illness in the public spotlight.

I think that her death as a private figure and the mother of two children is of course as sad and painful as these things always are and I wish that it had not happened to her.

That said, her absence from public life is something to be very happy about as she represented and was part of a disgusting aspect of modern British life: the cult of meaningless celebrity. It's just a shame that she wasn't removed from public life in a way less damaging to her family.

A very definite +1 Andy on that.
