Tifosi Scalare Carbon Ultegra Road Bike From Halfords.

I dont normally like to buy my bike from Halfords as they tried to stitch me up first time i did. But the employee that did that is long gone and while the staff there are relatively new and dont know alot about cycling - Im hoping their mechanics might know a thing or two....

Im tempted by this Tifosi Scalare not just because its carbon, But its black and red (which look good on a bike ) and they are currently offering 0% interest on finance....

So heres a good way to get on the carbon bike wagon for a decent price and not be charged extra for it

The idea here is that i buy the bike and swap my current H Plus Son wheels over with the wheels that are currently on the bike itself as the odd review has stated that the wheels it comes with arent exactly the best in the world.

What are your thoughts?

(oh and i also get 10% off from BC)

Looks wise that's lush but I'm a black and red sucker  as for actually buying it that's down to you mate if it's what you want crack on. Will it make you faster fitter and revolutionise your cycling maybe maybe not but then you don't know until you try. Carbon for me as a frame just didn't work don't know why it just didn't (I did spend quite a few £££ finding that out so its not just a throw away comment). For me though looking back I'm thinking it was more my weight and lack of fitness smoking etc that was making me feel like poo so I may try carbon again one day (where is that credit card :stop:) lol

Looks nice. As an alternative, not sure if it's still available, but halfords were selling a full ultegra boardman (old series) for £1300 roughly and this was with ultegra wheels too, which are pretty good hoops apparently.

Looks a decent enough frame and Ultegra is always a good choice. As you say, the wheels might not be up to the standard of the rest, but they will still go round! Try before you buy? Fit is so important.

Will be definitely trying if possible - my local halfords is open today and i need to pop down there before it closes to pick something up so i might have a gander and see if they have it.. Last time i was there, they had a nice pinarello razha or something similar on display which totally made me drool but it seems Halfords no longer do Pinarello bikes anymore :dry:

Seems a good deal. The only thing that would concern me is how variable halford bike mechanic's are. Inspect it very throughly if you do buy one.

Cycle Republic, as Halfords' standalone bike shop, might be a better bet both for stock/test rides and mechanic quality...and they definitely stock Pinarello. There's a Dogma 65.1 Think 2 with Ultegra Di2 in the Euston Road one (out of your budget, I'd guess....).

Why oh why would you buy a bike from a shop with limited understanding of bikes. Look around. 2 mins on the Internet proved their are better deals out there. A carbon ultegra on Ribble for £1200. I am sure there are more. Use google - look around.

There were a couple of Pinarellos in Cannock Halfords yesterday, including a steel fixed wheel model. Maybe they are selling off what is left.

well beyond my budget  I like to cycle but I dont think im quite worthy (or let alone need) a Di2 setup yet.

It was mainly for the 0% finance option instead of the huge lump sum all in one go. The Tifosi I linked isnt exactly a bad bike either.

I think this is the case :/ There are no Pinarello bikes listed on their website anymore so i think they are getting rid of stock. If this is true then it might be possible for me to barter a little and get a good deal on one (possibly - if they have any left)

Buy it if you like it but there are many other retailers out there, also offering IFC
As ever if you go the Never never route, ensure its fully insured against all eventualities or you could be paying for something you no longer own or a pile of cracked plastic.

It'll be a rarity on the roads unlike Boardmans which is a good thing :okay:

It's a shame Halfords are open on Easter Sunday though

Although I don't use it much the guys at our local Halfords are pretty top notch and and the main mechanic is as good as you will get and is well known in the area so I wouldn't poo poo all Halfords stores.

Both my bikes are fully insured and have european cover just incase I wanted to venture further afield with them. My new carbon will be insured within the same hour of picking it up.

Ive checked up on other retailers but I havent seen them offering IFC - Only one so far is Halfords. Id prefer to shop from Evanscycles but they dont have the same IFC offer currently.

Nothing is set in stone yet however - Im just having a good look around to see what offers are on
