Because the cyclist seems to be wrong about the motorist overtaking safely and the motorist was also in the wrong by overtaking through a junction. I don't quite understand the situation so I'll trust the cyclist that they did something wrong, but it doesn't seem like only they were at fault.

When the cyclist's own account was that they were hit, from behind, when they had moved out to turn right? Perhaps it was just me that was taught that if you hit someone from behind, it's your fault.

Ok

you 2 experts clearly know better than those who were present at the scene and the cyclist who has admitted, not just at scene, but later on here that it was his fault.

Clearly you know better than him

Strangely enough, cyclists do make mistakes when riding and not every accident is the fault of a motorist

Whereas you clearly think that a cyclist can never be mistaken or forget part of the highway code? Why are you defending this cyclist? Your bias is clearly showing through!

Happens to the best of us. I was pulling out of a minor road onto a major(ish) road in manchester the other day after a long ride out. Cars lining the major road parked on either side meant I had to pull out a little to actually see if there was a gap in traffic. Unfortuntely, there wasnt, and I'd pulled out a little further than anticipated causing an incoming car to emergancy stop a few feet from me. Proper deer-in-headlights moment.

Haven't had an adrenaline rush followed by feeling that sick in a long long time! It was my fault. If I was too be super picky, judging by the skid marks I'd say the car was doing moer than the 20mph limit but I can't prove that and shouldnt have pulled out so far. I'm grateful that the driver was paying attention and I feel awful about the whole thing as I pride myself on being a good cyclist around traffic.

It happens. Glad you're safe!

I am not defending anyone I am merely exposing the inherent bias of those who seem to think they know better who was to blame despite not being at the scene of the accident than:
a) the cyclist who admits he is in the wrong.
b) The same cyclist who was present at the incident

Why inherent bias? You read an account and make a judgement on the basis of that account. I drive and see plenty of idiot cyclists and drivers, cycle and see plenty of idiot drivers and cyclists, I'm not absolutely chomping at the bit to defend the OP.

So do you think the motorist was correct to overtake through the junction, then?

Bimbling along ...
@PeteXXX is the bike okay?

As to the "Blame game" side discussion; Pete's happy to accept he was at fault - he's okay, hopefully the bike is okay too (?), no harm, no foul, lesson learned. If his thread reminds other CC'ers to remain alert then it's done a good job, but let's please not have pages and pages discussing something that didn't happen and wasn't someone else's fault. Thanks.

How would I know?

I was not there . I do not know the location.

I trust the views of the 2 parties involved, the cyclist and the motorist ( relayed by the cyclist) who both agree who was to blame

Sorry - I may have missed that when interrupted by one of today's power cuts. I'll stop trying to wake spen up to the absurdity of saying the cyclist is always wrong except when they take all the blame and then they're 100% right even when they seem wrong.

Blame game,
Yesterday i pulled into a mini supermarket carpark and saw a car in front waiting for a space so i waited a good car length behind them, they reveresed straight back missing by about 2 inches and when they got out the car the were shouting that should not be so impatient
