Sounds like Fran Contador is trying to get his brother 'out there' to me. Don't think Brailsford would touch him....

My first reaction was one of surprise. It didn't scan. You may well be right, who knows. I think Sky has been linked with everyone now.

"Contador's brother and manager, Fran, confirmed there has been contact with Team Sky, although he did not say by whom or when."

Contact with isn't the same as contact by....

IIRC Brailsford was interviewed during the Tour and was asked specifically about signing Bertie. His answer was an unequivocal 'no'. I realise that it's difficult to take anything at face value when it comes to contract negotiations but his answer was pretty stark.

C'mon, I saw your TT thread. Sprint between lamposts is my tip. They're about 10 miles apart in your neck of the woods :hyper:

I get money off my rates due to lack of lighting!

I really can't see that happening!

I'm sure TeamSky have made an approach, as probably have other teams. In itself, it's pretty meaningless. TeamYello could make an approach!

In the event that Contador becomes a free agent then I think there'll be many a team interested... and I don't think Contador would be interested in TeamSky.

I don't see Contador at Astana next year though, even though they say he's not going anywhere and is contracted. Either Astana will have its licence withdrawn by UCI (over these finance issues) OR some deal will be done allowing him to go.

People talk about Garmin (with Wiggins going to TeamSky) but whilst that remains a possibility, I still think we'll see Contador moving elsewhere, perhaps closer to home.

And apparently the French anti-doping authorities are now investigating 'suspicious syringes' found in rubbish from the Astana team...

I'd heard that odd medicinal products had been found in the bins of some team hotels. Didn't know that it was specifically Astana though. Is there a source for this?
