I think I said something about not gloating. There wasn't a lot in that performance to gloat about. More promise and potential than evidence. There was, however, the final score so just picture me doing a little victory dance in my local

Neither side has much to celebrate; wooden spoon for Scotland again I think. Seriously lacking in. well, everything. The RWC performances seem a long way away. Finn Russell even had time to write crib notes for his prelim exams on the back of his hand during it.

I might have expressed that poorly. In both games the losing team had more to be proud of than the winning one.
I'm not at all sure I agree with you there. As has been said above, scoring two tries - and good tries at that - away from home against determined opposition is no mean feat. While far from perfect, England were definitely the better team, and worthy winners.

I thought it was an OK performance by England - but there was not a lot I could see that was different from the Lancaster era - defence was better - line outs were more controlled with Harley throwing - early days tho for Jones - pretty perfect tho with Italy next for Jones to get more input before the challenges of Ireland and Wales and I hope France - who should/have to improve under their new coach

I thought that the Italians were an eye opener and their No.8 in particular and IMO France should have lost. England were the better side of that match and did well in a very physical game but the Scots were not disgraced. Today should be interesting and it will also be interesting to see how the two teams perform with a number of players either injured or in the case of Irish, retired from playing.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Italian number 8 Sergio Parisse was the first Italian to be nominated for IRB player of the year - the Italians are getting better - and competing better - no longer the automatic wooden spoon - however, they still have some way to go before they are competing with the top three of the home nations - France yesterday tho were poor
