I'm sure he'll be fine  (although currently offline? ;))

I'm fine and dandy!! although I had a very restless night. Weird, crazy, mental but very vivid dreams

Today I think I'm going to tackle that mouldy block of cheese that's been in the fridge since last May

There's mould and there's mould. If the block of cheese makes a jump for it when you approach it, best not to eat it or if there is a dead mouse belly up nearby  .

Btw I have some cheese - brie, gambonzola and orangy Stilton stuff from Oct/Nov last year. Had a piece of the orangy stuff last week with some salad and the cheese was fine. Threw out some older Brie as it had turned to a purply creamy consistency and smelled vile .

Depends on the cheese.
St Paulin smells nice, but some (Epoisses, f'rinstance) smell like the inside of a sumo wrestlers underwear.
On a hot day.

Apart from some can produce incredibly strong toxins (mycotoxins) in the bits of mould that you can't see deep in the cheese .
The moulds in Blue cheese are selected as benign to human health.
If it's gone mouldy and it isn't supposed to be, then chuck it.

Salami should be pretty safe and well preserved naturally, it's dry, salty, has a low pH and is vacuum packed. C. botulinum may be a risk due to the low O2 tension in the packs but the above factors plus importantly Sodium Nitrite in Salami cure and the chill temps should mean that it is incredibly unlikely to be an issue.
Dammit Greedo, you'll live a little longer

I'd welcome some confirmation that Greedo hasn't been on the Great White Telephone all afternoon. Having encouraged him to eat the salami, I'd feel guilty if he'd keeled over with some form of gastric lurgy.
