so I'm experimenting with flats and trainers over spd sls.

What do you do to keep your feet dry and warm when using flats?

I'm thinking shoe covers may not fit properly or get damaged on flats...

I use overshoes, work fine on flat pedals.

Good idea
I wear trainers on the Pashley and even with decent cycling socks my feet can get a bit chilled,
plus trainers get grubby
Will give it a go :okay:

I find my DMR flat pedals chew up the bottoms of overshoes .i have been thinking about sewing a bit of thin rubber onto the soles.

Ones Northern dave linked to say they have extra tread so could be good.

if you've got enough space you can wear your overshoes over the sock and inside the shoe.

To do this successfully they need to be made of fabric (vs neoprene) and be a size or two smaller.

I do this when there is a chance of ice and ride my MTB to work.

I wear overshoes over my leather lace up shoes on flat pedals with toeclips. The Aldi and Planet X ones fit fine but I bough a pair of Gore overshoes which don't fit over the size stated. They only wear out by walking on them. My left one always gets tattiest underneath because that's the foot I put down when I have to stop in traffic and at junctions. If you wear ventilated trainers, you'll still get water and wind going through.
