I used to commute there when I was 20, from Parson Cross to the Man Power Services Commission building at then end of the Moor.
Sadly those days are gone, and I now live near Cambridge, where its all flat, but there are cyclists everywhere!
I miss all the hills. Southey Hill, Herries Road, Burncross Hill, the A57 from Rivelin out to the Peaks, I wonder if the little park which had he 3 little swimming/ paddling pools is still there, and what ever happened to the MSC building at the end of the Moor.

The pools in Rivelin valley have been turned into some sort of sensory aqua park for disabled kids I seem to remember hearing. Most of the Moor is in the process of being flattened and rebuilt but the MSC building's still there

Sounds a bit beyond my capabilities at the moment!
Was.a bit beyond mine as well mate . Set off with a chap training for a vintage sportive riding on an old steel bike with down tube shifters . I realized pretty soon that I was never going to keep up with him , so I said for him to shoot off . Then I missed a turn at the top of burbage & didn't realize until I got to the bottom of the hill ! I didn't have a map of the course & I wasn't about to climb back up the hill so I set off for the Hope valley . I stopped at Hope had a break & set off back thro Fox house and eventually back to base . So I didnt actually do the route although pretty much the same distance ( 47 km )& was my first strava recording :-) . Bit disappointed but will e-mail the chap from Je james for the route & have a go on my own when I get the chance . :-)

How is everyone getting on then? The nicer weather seems to have encouraged more people to cycle, or perhaps it's the whole Tour de France thing - but there definitely seems to be more cyclists about.

Have any of you used the 'bike kitchen' at ReCycle bikes? http://recyclebikes.co.uk/arches I need to do a few things I don't have the tools for (headset and bottom bracket) so was thinking of going down if ever I get the chance.
