I'm another who ony shaves during racing season, but as I don't have my bikes yet and its winter out here, I havn't done for about 2 months

I did it once and was grateful because I crashed my (borrowed) bike off a French mountain road and ended up covered in sticky plasters.

Didn't half feel wierd when wearing trousers though.

It does, but the more you shave it doesn't

That's one of the main reasons for shaving, the other being massage.

It begs the question - why ?

Good question... I used to wonder why as well.

It's apparently done by racers so if they fall off and get serious road rash, it's easier to treat it, and be back on again sooner to compete.

I can't tell you why non racers do it. The time they take removing leg hair is probably greater than any time benefit saved.
