Get a CCTV survey done to find out what the problem is. They are relatively cheap and are non destructive as they go in via an access point.
@Beebo is correct, if a sewerage pipe connects two properties it is the responsibility of the water company even if it lies on one owners land. I know this because I had an issue with rats and had to get the water company out to help sort.
If the pipe is cracked and doesn’t need digging out they can put a “sleeve” in from inside, using a moulding thing that’s a bit like a squishy pole.
Are you able to install a non return valve also to stop the backflow up your channel/section of pipe?
