Most manufacturers launch next year's ranges around April-May, so the sales are virtually all year round depending on the brand, retailer, type of retailer, and how much stock they carry.

As Drago says.
Its a trade off. The sooner you buy the more choice you will have. Come December/January some makes will give 40% off but you are far less likely to get what you want in the size you need.

I tend to take L/XL being 6'1" and 35" inside leg.

What about ex-demo bikes. What tends to be the biggest discount % within reason.

Just keep looking. I've seen a few tasty £6k MTBs reduced to £3k. You can find some massive discounts but it most likely won't be the bike you particularly want. If you aren't in a rush, just keep looking.

I doubt you'll ever find the right bike more than 40 or 50% off

The best deals are normally second hand bikes people ride a few times and leave in the garage a couple of years. Normally in as new condition and well under half the new price. They will be in much better condition than ex demo bikes.

Companies like specialized set their bikes at high prices and then gradually reduce them. It depends on how well they sell etc.

Roughly speaking real discounts begin in September but just keep watching. Just be careful as a specific bike in your size may not be available by then.
