Sell me Lincolnshire

There is a thread about the Humber Bridge atm and while I was reading it I realised that Lincolnshire is (I think) the only English county I've never been to

So why should I go?

And for that matter, which counties haven't you visited and locals can give you the sales pitch

I think Merseyside is the only English county I've never been to at all. I don't need a sales pitch - I'd like to visit but haven't yet.

It's only about 60 odd miles by bike to Lincolnshire so I could even ride there

I'm counting as "visited" any county I've driven through or whatever. But definitely never set foot in Lincolnshire...yet

There is a nice house here overlooking open countryside, storage for a lot of bikes, right beside the Viking Way Sustrans route. Could be yours for £350,000.

Now the county, well the Wolds are fantastic in the summer, the coastal towns not so at any time of year. The locals do not like outsiders,as you may have guessed by the way they voted.

It is more expensive to have a pint in most pubs in Lincolnshire than any where else I visit excepting London, trying to find decent pub grub at a reasonable price, Wetherspoons is your best bet.

The wind and there is plenty is always in your face, the roads, well apart from the bomb holes, deep unforgiving dykes and crazy motorist ( we have 3 in the top 9 of most dangerous places to drive in the UK).

When I visit Suffolk I think what a nice county, as I come back through Norfolk I think nice but maybe not quite as neat and tidy, as I get to Lincolnshire I think what a mess.

So having checked the Lincolnshire boundaries it would seem I could bike it there in about three and a half hours with a decent tailwind

Some town called Gainsborough is the closest. It has a Maccy Ds and a train station. I can feel a plan coming on
