The seatpost size is fine. The frame is bent, so that's why it looks wrong. Any bigger, it wouldn't fit. That is literally bashed in with a mallet.

Will turn the seatpost (soon as I find that mallet) Cheers!

There will be a number on the seat post, just below the minimum insert line | | | | | | |. What is it (eg 27.2)?
Perhaps the OP would share an image of the whole bike so we can see the way the frame is bent. I share @Smokin Joe 's judgement.
