..a long way from somewhere called Home..
best D-Lock you can afford - round the frame and rear
best cable lock you can afford through the front wheel
read somebody fitted an 'audible' alarm - which worked

but a sad fact is that if they want it ....well get yourself some replacement insurance

and ^^^^ why not have it indoors..??

Owch .. lots of replies and good ideas, so thanks.

Yes of course I'll use locks etc (inside is already too crowded).
Got some concrete & scaffold ready for my own version of a bike rack.

Of course, I have no expectation to fool all of the people.
Maybe hard to appreciate until you're in the environment ... but around here, anything 'shiney' is asking for trouble.
Moving next year ... so not long to suffer

I know what you mean where I live is like that! In my block of flats it's mainly track suit wearing, pot smoking, Staffie owning chavs! And they are always "admiring" our bikes when we're coming in and out the flats with them!

I won't leave my roadie or my MTB in town just because I don't trust the chavs round here, not necessarily worried about it getting nicked (it would be locked up like fort knocks) but just generally tampering or vandalising (my OH's car got keyed in our car park!) I am in the process of fixing up a bike that I would leave locked up in town but for the time being I'll either walk down town or take the bike in the shop with me! Done that a couple of times with no probs!

I took mine around Sainsburys once, and they didn't like it atall.
Luckily I was just about to pay at the self service till, so I just got away with it.
