Hi folks, just latched on to this.
I recently had the dubious pleasure of joining some of the Scottish lot on Arran (seriously, I REALLY enjoyed it) so I'm up for a crack at this. As it happens, my gorgeous, ever-supportive, other half is planning a Dales Top Ten, 8 day walking route starting in Hardraw, near Hawes. I'm supporting her with our camper but for most if she'll be backpacking and wild camping. I've smiled ever so sweetly at her so she says she can start Sunday 'stead of Saturday. So it looks like I'm in. Luckily, my gorgeous, ever-supportive ... etc, retires (early) on Weds 23rd so, me being already work-free we'll have no deadlines, ('cept small matter of daughter's wedding on 9th August). Plus she'll be overly excited at leaving the world of regular work, so I'm looking forward to getting my way on all sorts of nonsense like this while she's in a good mood. After that we're off to Austria in the camper for 6 weeks. It's alright, I'm not looking for sympathy.
Already had the pleasure of meeting @Louch and @Nicol (how do I do those address linky things?) on Arran but look forward to meeting all you others on the day.
Cheers :bicycle:

Just looking at train tickets for this one ... £26 for an off-peak return at the moment.
The options are to arrive at Carlisle 9:31 or 10:07...

Now I know that it's an impossible question to answer ... any guesses on what train would be reasonably safe to book for the return journey? :scratch:The problem is that bikes need a reservation ... there is a train roughly once an hour during the afternoon/evening.

Hi folks,
Sadly, it's just become apparent that this ride clashes with a family event, which I'd overlooked. Stupid of me . Unfortunately it wouldn't be appropriate to miss the family do, so I'm afraid I'll have to give the ride a miss.
Great shame. Maybe next time.
Have a good one.
Cheers
Geoff
