Popped along to the SECC for a look at the Scottish Bike Show this afternoon.
Waste of time and money I'm afraid, very little there to see that you couldn't see in a visit to a decent bike shop.
Anyone think it was something that they would return to next year?

No chance!!

I thought it was just about ok; but for £9.50 + £6 to park the car (I know, I know; but in my defence I had to pick up a new car battery in Glasgow and didn't fancy carrying it on the bike) it certainly wasn't good value.
Not much in the way of parts or clothing for sale. I was looking for a pair of tyres and found the Continental stand. Good, I thought; just what I'm looking for - when I saw 700x32 touring tyres. "Sorry they're only display items, you can buy them at your LBS or on-line" WTF??
Pedals; none to be seen anywhere.

On the + side I did pick up a couple of bargain priced maps and books at the Sustrans stall, and the guys doing the stunts at the skate park style arena were entertaining .

Sadly i have to agree, i went along with my girlfriend at about 11ish and an hour later we were back in the city centre. I was maybe expecting too much, i'm glad i was able to pick the tickets up for £7 each. I realise its their first year and hope they come back but i hope they improve it next time. There was a quite a lot of mountain bike stuff but as i went along to see road bikes i was disappointed.

I was there also with the wife £25 incl car parking, total waste of money, basically went along to support cycle shows in Scotland. They had the chance to get this so right and mucked it up,I dont see another show in Scotland as the cyclists will not support after this poor excuss of a show.

Its a pity I would like to have seen a regular show every year, but this show could have been held in a town hall, basically just shows you how small it was

I'd agree that it wasn't good value for money, although I was able to talk to many of the stallholders and get answers to loads of newbie questions.

As an aside, I was slightly confused (it doesn't take much  ) by the similarity of some of the company names: Ed's Cycle Co-op (present), The Edinburgh Cycle Company (present) and Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative (not present).

Ach well, if it's any consolation, you only went to Glasgow. I passed by Glasgow on my way to be disappointed at the Bike Show in London. Although I did get to see the Boat Show and Outdoor Show at the same time for the price of one ticket.

I'm glad I didn't have the spare cash now, it was a nicer day for a cycle.

Got a ticket online at £6.50 for tomorrow. Not looking good guys, but I'll take a look anyway, out of curiosity, like.
By the way, did they have any hybridish things for sale?? I'm slowly getting bits together to make a bike you see.

A much better option was the Cycle Promotions trade fair in the Gorbals a couple of weeks back.

Forgot to mention re parking charges; they are even charging £1 to park your BIKE at the "official" bike park inside the SECC concourse. WTF is that all about? I know it's "only" a pound, but it's the principle; and at a bike show of all places!! What's to stop people doing what we would normally do, and chain it to the railings nearby? Probably some Health and Safety 2@t in a hi-vis will be employed to try and stop us.......
