The first email reminds me of the time i used gumtree to sell an old graphics card. Similar sort of story, except that this person claimed to want to buy the card for her partner's birthday who was in army and currently on deployment BUT didnt have all the asking cash so she would pay me half now then half later and she was totally going to pay because shes a God fearing woman.

Obviously that was an instant red flag. when she finally told me she wanted to send it somewhere to Africa I asked for the full amount and postage to be paid upfront or the card wasnt going anywhere.

Needless to say there was no further correspondence from her side.

I havent used gumtree to buy or sell anything since i was in my 20s. I used to trawl the classifieds for guitar amps and other music equipment back in the day.

My 'admirer' keeps asking me to sign up to 'Whatsapp'. How can you they scam you by that method?🤔

She wants to send you photos, not the kind FB would like

P.S. Dear is quite often used, by women of Asian descent, we deal with quite a few Chinese, Filippino it's quite normal

Don’t!! I’ve heard that they can then take over your account, lock you out and then scam your contacts.
I've heard putting butter on your toast before the jam makes it taste better, that's wrong as well

'She' must have about umpteen on the go at once. 'She' doesn't push it. 'She' says stuff like "Hi,how are you"? Then doesn't push for a reply. I suppose out of every hundred, one will take the bait and hand over confidential details.🤔

Don’t fall for it. Don’t give out any personal details. These people are professional conmen and women. I know you won’t - you seem as though you’ve already seen through her.

I know it sounds daft, but part of me thinks 'she's real:ohmy:. Then on the other hand i'm too polite to tell 'her' 'she's trying to con me. There's no fool like an old fool eh!

Old thread revival time.

I have a 35-40 year old woman on Facebook who wants to know my Whatsapp (i don't use Whatsapp) and Gmail addresses. Well,i say 30 year old woman, but i doubt it. 'She' says she's from Germany and now lives in Ghana. Is this probably a scam? I might ask 'her' why she wants them.🤔
Give her the whatsapp and gmail addresses of someone youmdon't like. And then hope she is a scammer and not a genuine 30 year old nympho wanting a leg over.

Tell her your number is 07970883478 it's an invalid number but she won't know that. Then if she says she can't connect say it must be an issue at her end
