Say you were given £10k to treat yourself, what would you buy?

Many years ago I was made bankrupt and had debt collectors at the door and every time the phone rang I was getting knots in the stomach. So to just have it sitting there in the bank and not needing to use it would be so reassuring and calming. I've saved more than enough cash now to have no such worries so for me it buys peace of mind
I thought if you were made bankrupt then your debts were written off?

Yes, and I can imagine that the poster is referring to the stressful stage before the bankruptcy order is made.

An ottoman is a blanket box, that chair comes with a footstool.

I wouldn't trust £7k to a firm who doesn't know what their stuff's called.

Also the set is 1970s ugly.
*Ahem*

Apart from the chair being a mid-century design classic, I think they know their terminology....if not I'd have been sure somebody might have mentioned it at the time....

The Ottoman, also known as a pouffe, pouf, tugget, or hassock originated from Turkey in the 17th century. The ottoman started as a low seat and was essentially used in the same way a sofa is today, Turkish families even covered them with brightly coloured cushions. The whole family setting revolved around the ottoman and it was the central design feature in a living room.
The term “ottoman” first entered the English language around 1605 and gets it names from its exotic to European origins. The ottomans or hassocks were imported from Turkey during the 1700s when the area was part of the Ottoman empire. They caught on in the European salons, a place to converse, share art and academic values in the age of enlightenment.
The Ottoman: Then & Now

When the ottoman first arrived in Europe, the design was altered and instead of sitting on the floor with piled cushions, feet were added, turning it into a stool. It also differed from its Turkish origins in that craftsmen created a large version that wrapped around three walls instead of sitting in the middle of a room. Over time, the piece was scaled down to a smaller pouffe that was intended to fit in a corner. It wasn’t until the 19th Century that ottomans took on their octagonal and circular shapes that are prevalent in society today.

Yeah I'd spend that £1k spending money on "on-board services" along the lines of what @Ming the Merciless was planning....

Uhm otherwise, uhm some jewellery, maybe a watch or something.

Not sure if they are available on board. But due to number of jurisdictions that needs to be crossed, passport stamped, tickets to be picked up etc, a fair bit of spending money would go towards greasing of the palms at least across 4 countries. But absolutely would be delighted to partake in tea and chit chat on board about the lives we lead with anyone no matter what their backgrounds are.

I was pondering this question in the wee small hours.

I'd really like an IWC Pilots watch, circa 5k but I may save-up for my 60th. But something I've always hankered after is an Eames Chair and Ottoman:

...and pair of Transmission line speakers to listen to whilst in my chair. The kit I wanted is no longer available, so these will have to suffice:

Then all I'd need is time to enjoy then both :-)

What would you treat yourself too? Be selfish!
I'd give it all away to the less fortune and think as well about how badly constant boasting comes across...
