That would be a worry. Imagine that happening on the middle of a tour. A loaded bag and SQR puts a lot of pressure in one spot.
My little amateur experiment puts the pressure, IMO, through the saddle and on down into the frame. I see it as just an addition to body weight so it's spread out. Seatposts are surely designed for a downward pressure not pulled horizontally. First time I've seen this though.
 
Just FYI when that happened it had probably not had the SQR Tour Slim attached to if for about a year. Mostly used with a Barley. On this day, I had a d-lock and cable attached, and total weight was about 5kg.

Thats seems to be even more worrying. What would have happened with more weight attached. Any feedback from Carradice? Is this part Aluminium?
 
I just binned it, sorry. At £3 replacement, I couldn't be arsed making a fuss.

Oh, and because they offer it as a part, I assume they think it's a consumable. The other components of the bracket on not sold separately, including the spring which could have easily been lost.
