I tried a Charge Spoon after reading all the glowing praise it gets but it definitely wasn't for me even after giving it about 9 months to break in. It's a very personal thing obviously but get measured up/measure yourself up and get the one that fits you. I even rode the Spoon after getting a proper retul fit and tweaking everything else had no affect on my rear as thought maybe I was putting too much pressure and so on but decided enough was enough and now ride with a Fizik Arione. By the way the fit wasn't for the pain in the ar*e, just wanted to clear that up ;). Straight away the pain had gone from my sit bones with the Arione and is just a matter of time before it's broken in properly I think and it'll be perfect all over. Best purchase I made and thankfully as I was going back for further tweaks at the fitters anyway I got them to set it up with this saddle as it's longer so not just a straight swap like for like.

Anyway I can recommend one but the other I was looking at was also the Specialized Romin Evo Expert but the Arione was in stock when I went into Evans which is why it won between the two.

Well after a week i have gone back to my boardman fizik clones , spoon is comfy but the rest of my set up is suffering so i might just have 2 spoons for sale soon.

I'm training for the London100. I ride a Specialized Roubaix. As I up the mileage I am finding the saddle less comfortable.

It is ok for 20 miles but after that I suffer. I'm looking for recommendations for a new saddle.
if you are in trouble after just 20 miles then you either need to cycle LOTS more, or the saddle you have is total crap (or possibly not set correctly).
Most people find one of the Fizik saddles (Arione, Anteres, and Aliante) to be good. You could try a cut-away saddle but these are very hit or miss - I tried one and it was the most painful saddle I'd ever tried by a very long way.
I like the Fizik Aliante, but in my lighter days I preferred the Fizik Arione
As for the charge spoon, they are okay but there is far better out there. The spoon is a very basic saddle design.

Everyone's bum and body is different. I cycle many thousands of km a year on various bikes. My main road bikes both have Spoons and the fact that they are a basic design does not make them any better or worse. I cycled 20 miles on my new Focus this week with a Prologo Nago Evo on it and in spite of copying the Retul positioning for the new bike based upon my BMC I found it impossible to get it other than very uncomfortable. So stick with whatever works for you, and if that is a cheap basic design, go with it.

The one bit I agree with is that if you cycle little, your barse may need time in the saddle to become accustomed to cycling!

Well 64 miles today and my ass was fine but now everything else hurts !
Hands were constantly numb and had neck ache , very odd.

I had the same problem with getting numb hands. I have some new "Ergonomic" grips now and they have sorted the issue. I think they call it Cyclist's Palsy

You may get a good price for them. When I was looking last week they seem to be discontinued. Are they still being made?

San Marco Rolls has been around for years and is loved by many. An alternative to the Brooks.
I had a San Marco Rolls as OEM on my Dalesman from new - but after the first ride it was swapped for a Brooks Standard B17. Horses for courses and saddles for arses - but if I ever ride a standard bike again it will have my much loved Brooks on it.

What saddle is on your current bike?

I've spent the last 6 months trying different saddles, after the fourth go i'm now happy doing regular 70-80 mile rides on a Specialized Toupe Plus saddle with no problems at all.

Note that the brooks have shorter saddle rails so you may have to get a slightly more layback post depending on your position.

Also for some strange reason they are more comfortable when ever so slightly tilting upwards.

Bit off topic but what mudguards have you fitted to your roubaix and how did you fit them without the bike having fittings for them?

thanks

I've been riding with a Charge Spoon for some time and find it very comfortable. £20 from e-bay was a bargain.
