I remember being given Gee's Linctus whenever I had a cough as a child I can still taste it now - yuk!! xx(

EDIT: Just looked online, and it seems you can still get it. Bottle looks a bit more modern though!

It was a bit disconcerting to read through this thread without noticing when it was started ... I thought that Vernon was posting from 'the other side'!

I do, but you can't buy this stuff any more---

You can get similar stuff called Ellimans, but I don't think it works as well.

As a most of life bad back sufferer, modest use of Voltarol has been of huge benefit to me, always got me supple again.
When it was available over the counter, IIRC 12.5mg, pack of 8 tablets cost around £8. Now its prescription only....
Spain, 40 tablets, 50mg, cost 1.30€...say £1.
UK £1.00 each.
Spain, a tad over 2p each.
If you take into account the mg amount, UK prices are (were) 200 times higher.

Ive already stocked up.

My favourite medicine that I can no longer get was a cough medicine called Dimotane Co I think.

Apparently withdrawn due to misuse and apparently it shouldn't work! However it was absolutely brilliant at sorting out the type of cough I suffered from. Luckily the kids are older now and I don't seem to come down with that type of cough that kept me awake and often meant sleeping on the sofa to stop disturbing everyone else's sleep.

Luckily we have our own stock of mice, as the local boots don't stock them. What's the world coming to eh?

I used to put a teaspoon of Andrews Liver Salts into my glasses of diluted orange squash to make orangeade... drank loads of the stuff when I was little.... no-one knew mind or they'd've probably stopped me. No noticeable effect though, that I can remember!
I used to do the same, I was a teenager before I found out it was supposed to be a medicine.
