Looking forward to it - went out for an hour's trail run this morning, back in time for judo at 11 (where I knackered my knee again - should be OK for the bike though), then it will be another run tomorrow before a wedding reception (not mine!) late into the night on Sunday. I think the weather will be the last of my worries come Monday morning, by when I will either be feeling slightly fragile or too numb to care.

Hey, looks like all the rain is happening today and tomorrow is now predicted to be 13 degrees, sunshine and NO rain :-)

Fairly firm confirmation from me. It's absolutely peeing down here at the moment, so i hope it sheds the lot today.

Bad news: since I fitted new koolstop salmon brake blocks they squeal like a herd of terrified pigs, so apologies in advance.
Good news: I'm old, fat, asthmatic (according to the doc) and currently recovering from bruised ribs from replacing a leaking loft cold water tank last Wednesday, so you'll all be out of earshot after the first hill.

I've been offered a lift to/pick up from Wymondham windmill, so I'll be well knackered warmed up before the start!

Just wondering if you know what the route will be? To get in for 9:30 will involve catching the train that would get me in for 08:45, which in turn will involve getting up at 07:00, which I'd prefer not to do after the busy week I've had/got coming! The next train would get me in for 09:45, so if I were to get this would there be a shortcut I could take to catch up with you? Also, Mrs. IRW is unlikely to be attending as she's feeling a bit under the weather at the moment.
Thanks,
Ian

Don't worry Poacher, you'll still be ahead of me.. I had to be pushed up some hills last time!

Would anybody like some 'Colin the Caterpillar' jelly babies? My niece bought them for me as a bit of a joke but now that I know where gelatine comes from (thanks dr_pink!), I don't want to eat them! Say the word and I'll bring them along tomorrow.

I was supposed to ride over to visit my cousin today but didn't fancy a soaking so instead I'm online avoiding the Jubilee 'celebrations' ...

It looks like I won't need to wear my heavy-duty rain jacket after all - yippee!:sun:

Unfortunately there is no shortcut unless you are happy to miss half the ride, which would defeat the object and even then I would have to give you a detailed map, so sorry about that. Take heart that ColinJ is arriving on the same train I think as you and he would have to get up considerably earlier [trying to make you feel better]. On the plus side I will meet you both from the station and we can grab a quick cuppa first, plus as Angel-Diva points out we shall have sun but also maybe a shower so if you can bring a packable waterproof, if you don't have one I'm sure we have a couple of old ones in my Alladin's cave of bike bits.
I would prefer to start riding at 9am now the forecast is much better but one of our riders is driving from afar and it wouldn't be fair to ask him to leave any earlier.
It's been raining here for approx 15 hours now without stopping and if you think you have ever got wet on a ride ask dr_pink tomorrow what it is like to get wet, this morning was something else!

I'm setting two alarms for 05:30 to make sure that I wake up, and I'm going to set off for Nuneaton early to allow time to repair a puncture on the way to the station should the need arise. (I probably shouldn't have mentioned that, for fear of jinxing myself!)

Sounds good!

Horrible in Coventry today - very glad not to be riding!

Removed the Giant from the turbo so won't have the touring gears to help me tomorrow. Is there space left at the back?

If that's me then I will set off at 7 which *should* get me there for 8.45 but I am at the mercy of the M62~A1

If I decide to ride fixed, and haven't made my mind up yet then I will be tail end charlie.

No, leave at 7.15, you will do it easily with time to spare, unless everyone tells me in the next hour or so they would prefer 9 and give us longer to eat cake then we will keep it at 9.30.

Wymondham to here is a comfortable 25 mins so not even a warm up

Looking forward to tomorrow. But just want to say - no taking the mickey about hubby n me having matching bikes! Sad I know but we got them because of a mistake on a certain well known cycle stores website with a 30% discount which they dutifully honoured. But they've proven to be such workhorses we don't want to change them. Snigger at your peril.

We could be even worse, you will have to wait and see.
