Rubbish Shoes

I bought a pair of Muddy fox spd shoes from Sports direct for £20 and they lasted well enough for the dosh.... the straps eventually going a bit stretched and weak. So I replaced them with Aldi ones that seemed to get good reviews on here, which broke within a month the plastic cleat backing breaking away from the rubber sole so I got them refunded and replaced them with a similar pair from Sports direct and these have split exactly the same again within a month, so I am going to return them tonight and hopefully swap them for the cheaper pair with a solid sole. Is this a common problem with plastic to rubber bonded soles? or is it because I'm buying dubious brands

When I buy the next bike I will spend a more on a new pair of shoes might even go SPD-SL and be a real roadie

Buy cheap and buy twice (or trice in your case). However, thousands of miles later I'm still wearing my cheap lidl mtb shoes.

The Aldi ones looked good quality but they did refund them so hopefully Sports Direct will let me swap them for a different type

You are buying crap ones. Got a pair of Lake MTB shoes ive been using for 5 years everyday. Shoes, shorts and gloves are important. Contact points with the bike so always best not taking short cuts. ;)

That's what I'm going to do next when funds allow....

Nip over to decathlon near ikea, they have a good range of shoes at keen prices and i can say they outperform the aldi/ sports direct stuff by miles.

Good call might do that next time....
And you can convince swmbo that its a good idea as she can go to the other shops there , i bought the 5 rated shoes (mtb style) i think they were about £50 and they are a lot stiffer and have a 2 year warranty i believe, i certainly can tell the difference when i use the soprts direct ones i have for commuting.

Sports direct swapped them (I was even offered a refund as they were faulty..... very rare for sports direct to offer a refund even when they have to because an items faulty) I got a pair with solid soles again and will spend a bit more (somewhere else) next time.......
