Over the years I've ridden a variety of (mostly utility) bikes, but I've always had a soft spot for road bikes ever since I bought my first racer, a white Peugeot, when I was 14 back in '76.
In 2008, when shopping for a new bike, and after discussing what sort of riding I do (commuting/leisure), my lbs recommended a hybrid. I had tried out and was about to buy a Giant FCR hybrid, then I spotted a bright red SCR road bike making puppy-eyes at me, and it was love at first sight
Now I'm a roadie through and through, in all weathers. I can see the attraction in MTB's, but not enough to want to get involved, and I'm too lazy to keep cleaning all the mud off! I just love going fast (well, as fast as I can) and the whole roadie ethos thingy.
Last summer was heckled by a couple of 20-something lads on expensive looking MTB's, but I don't let it bother me... their problem, not mine. I'll continue to say hello to anyone regardless of what bike they ride.
