yep - that's pretty much what the side wall looks like from new - the weave is visible, makes it look warn but I don't think it is.

If that's what that model of tyre is like as standard then no problem. Does look odd though. As you saw earlier, I'm easy to confuse.

Even though the gash doesn't go all the way through, personally I would still replace that tyre as I don't like to take any chances with sidewall damage.
