Unfortunately scruffy b*stards are scruffy b*stards regardless of their means of transport. Very inconsiderate behaviour - Just because you've seen the Pro's do it on the tv does not make it ok to copy. Provides another stick for those wishing to beat with the cycling community.

I haven't checked as I don't use gels, but are any of these wrappers biodegradable? The ability to do this exists. I am not excusing the knobbers who do drop them, but it would seem sensible for the manufacturers to do this if they don't already.

On the London 100 (shortened to 86 thanks to some American wind) the organisers handed out gels just before a small rise called Wimbledon Common. The road for the next few hundred yards was carpeted with wrappers; I wonder if they all got cleared up?

How is that relevant? Things don't biodegrade instantaneously on contact with the ground.

Littering is littering - whether the litter is biodegradable or not.
Which is precisely why I said "I am not excusing the knobbers who do drop them"

wassat foam stuff?

Its from a can of sealant + compressed air, basically a quick and temporary way to get home after a puncture.

I've used this stuff twice as I usually carry one around for extreme situations, like when my pump decided not to allow me to get the flex hose out, or when I needed to get back in hurry and had a flat. Although they are very environmentally friendly, I definately did not leave it lying around in the countryside.

Inner tubes is another one, I mean ********** pick it up after you, lazy, careless people.

I see it all the time on organised events and such like , gel wrappers in the road, its a sign of the times , scruffy gits who don't give a toss
Fair enough on an organised event where the Event host is probably contracted to clean up after the event. but the amount of Gel wraps i see around the countryside these days is disheartening

We have a big race day in my village every year for the Danish championships. At the end of the day a lot of the adults and children walk and ride the course picking up gel wrappers, bottles, caps, etc. I must have 10 water bottles in my shed.

If it is an organised event then surely they should have a clean up team who walk the course to pick up. If they didnt, I would be objecting.
