Either Saturday or Sunday depending on who might want to come along and the general consensus.

There have been a few recent recruits from this area and I had an idea it might be worth trying to tempt a few along.

The intention is for a shorter ride which might suit newer or less experience riders or maybe new members to the forum ( old stagers too) who are within reaching distance of Leeds. I haven't planned a route yet but it will be using quieter lanes, probably about 20 or 25 miles, with, naturally, a stop for tea and CAKE.
It won't be a leg breaking hilly route, it won't be done at breakneck speed. It will, I hope, be sociable and to everyone's taste. Avoiding all hills won't be possible due to the local terrain but I'll keep those we do have to get up to a minimum if I can. The countryside around is good and I'm sure we can find a decent place to have a break.

I'm pretty sure at least two others, possibly four, will be able to make it but more would be better.

So who fancies an easy spin out with like minded souls?

Which side of Leeds?

Travelling out from the north.

Probably meeting at the old tram terminus in Roundhay Park. Mainly because I know the roads out that way.

Which side are you ?

I'm in the south - Dewsbury. That's why I tend to ride to Holmfirth/around there a lot.

However, I'd have no problem in meeting up in Leeds for a ride out. Saturday's best, but Sunday pm is OK too.

I'd be up for it on a Saturday.

Trains run earlier on Saturdays. Sunday trains don't usually start til 9.30-10.

Ok well route plotted here: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/752544

I thought maybe a stop in Boston Spa for a break, it's just over half way.

From the profile it looks kind of lumpy at the start and finish but getting out of Leeds is pretty much up which ever way you go. Sorry Tim.

And don't take any notice of the ''Max Gradient'' that says 18%. There is nothing more than about 9% ......................honest. Well ok a small bit of 10% but that's all of 20 yards. Some of it will use a cycle track as well which will take us away from the roads for a bit.

Comments and any suggestions welcome.

Seems OK with me - I've noted you've mapped all the 'exclusive' bits of north Leeds. Us south-side dwellers might feel a bit overawed

I should be fine with the date, just need to confirm with SWMBO as I fly to Hong Kong the week after.

She's been told ... I'm OK with the 29th.

It looks reasonably tame to me, I'll be fine as long as the pace isn't too high :bicycle:

The route passes the end of Wigton Lane, but completely misses all the mansions on Alwoodley Lane
