Civil Engineering department at Nottingham was not really worth much compared to the other 4 on my list.
You know when people kept going on about Oxbridge being the gold standard I was always confused. Those two universities were not really in the top ten for civil engineering courses and also most other engineering courses too. I would rather go to Southampton than Oxford. AT most materials science in CAmbridge might be passsable course. I think Oxford is the Arts subjects mostly. Cambridge has good science in some departments but I don't recall them being good for engineering. I could be wrong, it was a good few years ago. I was never Oxbridge material. Posh enough, just, but I did not do the work to get there. I was happy with an easy middle ppf the class performance at my high school - independent grammar school now a free school possibly because the headmaster drove it into debt. He did disappear mid term and was not spoken about a few years before the school became a free school.
