the boy in the striped pyjamas, i had read the book before i went as had my son. clearly some ppl in the cinema had not and the stunned silence, well, amazing

I saw Shindler's List in Mann's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood when it first came out. The place was packed with middle aged and elderly jewish couples and the whole film was punctuated with what sounded like the whole audience quietly sobbing. Chilling.

What about older ones like 'A Few Good Men' and 'Runaway Jury'? Have you seen Transformers? Yes, I know it's a kids film but it's a blast ;0)

Wish we had snow as I just looked out the back and we have a Robin sitting on a log ;0)

Get a copy of Roman Holiday.............what a film, Greg Peck and Aud Hepburn!

I need to to get a copy of that film, I have never seen it, but I just love Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Pecker's films, but I haven't seen that one.

Here's my IMDB vote history link (is voting on films like this geeky?)

I'm sure my voting patterns are probably well correlated with the site's averages. Check out the 10/10 films - they're the ones I'd definitely watch again and again....

Thanks all. Some very good recommendations. Many of which I have seen which is encouraging that you seem to be on the same wavelength as to what I'm after!

I love A Few Good Men - really really corny but very enjoyable. Unfortunately my wife can't stand it. Which is a shame as I can watch it over and over (not so much because it is a great film but because it is just really easy and enjoyable to watch).

I recorded Little Miss Sunshine the other day and haven't got round to watching that yet so hopefully I'll fit it in over the weekend.

Once were warriors, possibly the most emotionally draining film I have ever seen

American History X is an amazing film. I didn;t know what to expect, but both Mrs EMD and I found it very profound and moving. The same goes with Once Were Warriors, although this is far more harrowing.

For a much nicer but still good film try "In America". I watched this last week and thought it was a beautifully made film. The Orphange by Guillermo del Toro is also worth a look at.

This Is England. An extraordinary filum.

Wasn't as good as I thought it would be but still very worth watching.

Have you seen 'Dodge Ball' ? I hate all of Ben Stiller's other films but Dodge Ball is genius, really funny.

Or 'Shaun Of The Dead' ? Very, very funny too :0)

Yes, seen Dodgeball and Shaun of the Dead. Very funny. Haven't seen any of Simon Pegg's other stuff.

I quite like Ben Stiller - particularly when he is working with Owen Wilson. Zoolander is very funny. And I love Meet the Parents.
