Can anybody recommend a good cycle with a triple good for climbing at around £800?

Thinking of specialized Allez 27 but would like to know what else is on offer.

Thanks

just being devil's advocate - why should it be a triple?

there are a few compacts around 50/34 chainrings with 26 or 28 teeth at the back. 34/28 = 30/25.

I've got a Scott Speedster triple (52/42/30) and have no problems whatsoever.

I only venture onto the inner ring on 15%+ hills (cos I is old & weak )

Snap.(old and weak)
Very strange you should mention about a compact.

Just been into LBS(Evans) and told them my requirements. Was planning on spending £800 but stretched the budget a bit when they suggested a Specialised Secteur Compact. http://www.evanscycl...7?query=secteur

Any comments welcome.

My old bike is way too big(had a brief fitting on another specialised). No wonder I've been getting aches and pains and felt really awkward.

Just a bit concerned about using the 105 shifters as my old bike has handlebar mounted shifters. Somebody please tell me they are easy to get the hang of.

Thanks for everybody who contributed. Excited now......can't wait.

Trek 1 or 2 series. Plus they will take full mudguards. 2.3 was £1275 available for £900 at present if you look around. 2.1 may be available for £800.

i have Shimano 105 triple on my Scott speedster. Found it easy to get used to .

If your first ride is through town traffic I would put it in the middle chain ring and about half way up the cassette then leave it there while you ride out of town. Practice the gear changing somewhere quiet .

Enjoy the bike.

Specialized Secteur Triple. Round about now, the shops start to discount this year's model and you might pick up a bargain. The last discounted models tend to disappear early in the New Year.

Good luck.
