Hi All!
I am a newbie and got my new bike for Xmas.
It is the Carerra from halfords with the disc brakes. I am wanting to put a rear rack on the back but been informed from halfords, I cant have one as I have rear discs and nowhere to screw the mounts onto?
My question to all please, is there a way to put a rear rack on the back on this bike? Surely you must be able to put one on a bike with rear disc?
Any help will be great,

Many thanks

Which Carrera specifically?

If it really doesn't have rack mounts, the other option is a beam rack which clamps onto the seatpost. Be aware though that these will be restricted to about 9-10Kg of load. I have fitted a rack onto a bike with discs, as long as the mounts are there is it not usually a problem.

Racks are available for disc braked machines .. usually with the shorter "legs" attaching to the rear stays with p-clips. Ask at a real bike shop, not Halfords ...

Without knowing the model its hard to say, i put a seat post rack on a subway but thats because i had one spare and could not be bothered to buy a disc specific rack.

The moral of the story is avoid Halfords if you ever want reliable advice about bicycles. You may strike it lucky and find a member of staff who is knowledgeable about all things bicycle - but so you might if you go into your local butcher's shop.
