That rear mech cage looks like its had some stick its got a reasonable chance of that being the problem. Where a bouts in the country are you I've got alignment tools if you are in the North East.
Thanks Tojo, I'm down in the South west. I've ordered a new rear mech as you're right this one has loads of marks on it from when the hanger broke. I will fit the new one tomorrow and if out still will take to a shop. Many thanks. This mech did have a scratch when I picked up the bike, right where it says "SRAM Rival". So maybe it was already out of alignment with the old hanger? That rear mech cage looks like its had some stick its got a reasonable chance of that being the problem. Thanks, yes I agree I would spend ages getting it wrong. I will see how the alignment looks after fitting the new mech. The hanger alignment tool is a specialist once in a blue moon thing, so I'd try to find a shop to do it rather than paying out for a complicated tool then spending ages trying to figure out how to use it (and probably doing it all wrong - if you are me) (Just my opinion - other opinions are available, and mine is generally a bit rubbish)

I will have all fingers crossed! CheersHopefully just fitting the new rear mech sorts out your problem.......
Great thanks, I maybe in touch. The new mech arrives tomorrow so I will let you know.If you are near to Bristol/South Glos I can recommend my local bike mechanic who sorted mine out. Winterbourne based.
You'll never get it fitted doing it like that.I will have all fingers crossed! Cheers
Its I will have my toes crossed so that will cancel out the fingers. You'll never get it fitted doing it like that.
This is what the shop that sold me the hangers said. It should all just fit as the hanger was made the bike, and the only time they would use the tool would be is somehow the dropouts were bent, but that would have meant a big hit.I'd fit the hanger and a replacement mech and see how it goes....no point in buying an aligning tool unless you have to IMHO. I've fitted two hangers, just bolt them on, fit the RD, set up and away it went, no problem.
If once you've replaced the parts and it still won't set up, then perhaps consider an alignment tool...or your LBSs services.

Hi, yes I did adjust as well when the new hanger was fitted, but the derailleur looked bent. The new once is straight and only required slight H and L adjustment. It is all sorted now thanks. Plus I purchased a second hanger just in case. From my experience,It doesn't take that much of a hit to slightly bent the dropout. Hopefully the new derailleur will sort the problem out, though.
Maybe it's a very stupid suggestion, but did you re-adjust your limiting screws when you installed the new hanger? I've seen some bikes where the rear derailleur was touching the spokes because the lower limit screw was way too loose.
