Rear light recomenations?.

I’m thinking of going Cateye Viz 150 myself. Can’t really see myself needing anymore lumens. What do others think ?

More than adequate. Reliability is much more important than output, and cateye have been great for me. Also, they do a very good range of fixings, including one for a rear rack.

At danger of stirring up a while new hornets nest, I also like a helmet mounted light as backup, and use one of the exposure front and back jobbies, I think it's the Link+. When driving I always think high level lights are very visible. Would highly recommend, though I know some find these things controversial.

I did read a study that showed a helmet light combined with retro-reflectives on the lower legs are the best options for recognition by drivers at night.

I am using a Topeak HeadLux Dual USB Rechargeable Light which isn't particularly bright - so no use in day time - but is more than adequate at night. But it does reportedly last close to 30 hours on a single charge on the setting I use.

Almost all of the roads around me are unlit. I was driving one winter evening when I saw a flashing rear light (dark clothes, no reflectors or hi-vis, pitch black), and I was on him before I knew it - no fixed point to judge distance. Since then, I always make sure I have a constant rear light as well as a flasher.
Agree with the helmet light as well. I also use a micro front light (bought as an emergency back-up) on the handlebars turned to face me so that everyone can see more than just a front light at junctions - you'd be surprised the effect and difference it makes.

I've been using the Trace-R for a week or so now, very good light output and very well made.

I have gone for the hybrid flashing mode (as a car driver as well this seems the most noticeable pattern when driving).

All good and might buy the front one when my current one bites the dust.

The mount looks very solid but I was mulling over a secondary strap just incase, belt and braces..
