Hi all,

I've recently bought a TorTec Expedition Rack and fitted it earlier and am very happy.

At the back, it comes with a mounting plate (shown here) at the rear for attaching lights, which has holes drilled in it.
However (and I could be being silly here), both of the rear lights I have have plastic clips etc. that are designed to clip into their own mounting bracket (like this one for example) which is screwed to the seatpost for example.
I just can't see how I'd attach them to this rack.

Does anyone have this rack, and can you recommend lights that fit? And how?

Thanks,

MG

Usually you can get a pannier light like this one that screws into some of the holes , or there are brackets that can be bought to fit a normal light to like these

I haven't got a Tortec but my racks have similar plates. One has a small cateye LD500 screwed onto one of mine (not very bright though).

What I do on the main bike now is use a seatpost mount for when there's no bags on the back and I use a clothing clip to clip the light through the rack pack when I've put the bags on.

Hi jann71, mcshroom, and Gerry,

Thank you very much for your replies. I hadn't found any lights that you could just screw on, so thanks for the tip. Also, I wasn't aware that you could get brackets and that makes a lot more sense now.

Much appreciated.

A short piece of aluminium tubing with a hole or two drilled through it, a couple of bolt sets and handlebar end plugs.

What OP needs to do is go to the DVD rental shop and hire a copy of any of Fred Dinah's DVDs. He will then realise ingenuity and metalworking is a British tradition.

This B&M Toplight is what I have on my TorTec Expedition. It bolts directly on, no need for brackets. You may be able to get it cheaper as I personally have found SJS to be a little expensive sometimes.

There is a cheaper, non senso version available too. I would guess it has the fitting bolts as the senso version but I wouldn't swear to it.

Cheers, btw, to whoever moved this topic whilst I was in mid reply. The 'this topic does not exist' error message I got had me baffled for a moment!

You could fit a DiNotte 400L rear light to that, just bolt it straight on. Can you use that rack with disc brakes? I think I might get one...

I use a B&M Toplight, dynamo version. You can get battery versions too. Mine is the non-senso version, fits fine.

I have a similar pannier and lights and my solution is an old inner tube cut up and wrapped around the pannier tube. This provides purchase for the mounting bracket that usually goes around the seat tube. The back plate has a reflector on it.
