The News is full of Rory Mcilroy "winning" the green jacket at the Masters (well done to him).
However, to be accurate he only gets to borrow it for 12 months and must hand it back next year. Assuming he attends next years Masters he can still 'borrow' it during the comp but only to wear around the clubhouse.

The winner also has to host the champions dinner the following year for all the previous winners.
They get to pick the menu but also have to pay the bill which is about $10,000.

I was reading that.
My menu would be........
Bowl of Heinz tomato soup.
1 sausage, 1 egg and chips.
Ice cream (optional wafer).

@Dave7, every winner wins a green jacket, it becomes their property (i.e no borrowing occurs), but not to take home*.....they have to store it in the club house at Augusta in the winners cloakroom, to be worn only around the Augusta club. Multi-year winners re-use their jacket, but a winners jacket is never passed onto anyone else.. *A dispensation is given to a first time reigning champion to remove it from the club grounds during their 1 year reign.
